Michelle Meyer aspired to become a well-rounded psychotherapist but realized the impracticality of mastering every aspect of the field. Consequently, she decided to specialize in areas with which she could personally relate in various ways.
• Since childhood, Michelle has felt a deep compassion for those in pain and has wanted to help them feel better.
• With years dedicated to attaining and maintaining extreme physical fitness, Michelle understands the hard work needed for a healthy lifestyle and the physical stamina that comes with it. Unfortunately, she has also faced the despair of losing that vitality due to various circumstances, including illness. These personal experiences fuel her desire to assist others on their health journeys with integrative therapies such as polyvagal yoga, walk-and-talk therapy, and integrative eating.
• In her early life, Michelle experienced the pain of spiritual abuse, which motivated her to seek a healthier spiritual path. This quest ultimately led her to seminary, where she earned a theology degree. She also encountered a brief faith crisis during her studies,
contributing to a healthier spirituality. She aims to assist others in integrating healthy spirituality and healing from spiritual abuse when requested.
* Today, Michelle is committed to balancing her home life, career, and personal relationships while prioritizing her well-being. It's an ongoing endeavor.
When meeting with clients, Michelle approaches each session with a genuine desire to understand their unique experiences, intentionally refraining from projecting her own experiences. However, her personal history enriches her ability to empathize and connect more deeply. In her therapeutic practice, Michelle engages clients with humor, warmth, and unwavering support. She can also be gently direct when nudges are necessary. Her counseling office is a welcoming place for authentic exploration.
Come, kick back, and relax with a cup of coffee or tea in a modern, relaxing counseling office, or meet in the beautiful outdoors for walk-and-talk therapy.
